State of MIND

“By acting directly on specific areas of the brain designated to control functions that manage rehabilitation and recovery, standard rehabilitation practices are capable of achieving results which have until now been unthinkable.”

The mind-brain system is the most complex mechanism in our body.  Neurons communicate with each other through electrical and chemical impulses to form ever more complex circuitry, bringing stimulus and information to each region of our body.  Every area of the brain controls a specific action and while doing so it integrates and cooperates with other regions, forming complex neural networks that guarantee the proper functioning of our marvelous human machine.  When something upsets or damages this process it doesn’t mean that all is lost.  Our objective is to take maximum advantage of the recovery opportunities afforded by the mechanisms of cerebral plasticity, utilizing the most state of the art technology and offering highly personalized rehabilitation.

An innovative technique for a wide range of goals

Cerebral stimulation techniques with tDCS (transcranial direct current stimulation) are very helpful in this kind of medical path. Born in Italy and now used worldwide, the tDCS is an easily applied procedure that uses weak electrical currents (0,5 – 2 mA) to stimulate those specific parts of the brain that mediate the cognitive and emotional processes and that modulate the motor functions.

This technique is considered a possible valuable tool for the treatment of neuropsychiatric conditions such as depression, anxiety, Parkinson’s disease, Alzheimer’s dementia, chronic pain, addictions, and rehabilitation after stroke or trauma.

According to the latest literature, the combination of Cognitive Rehabilitation with tDCS Cerebral Stimulation produces a significant enhancement of specific cognitive functions, both in physiological ageing with “memory loss” and in cognitive decline, in all its different clinical forms.

the IRR Brain Stimulation Clinic proposes:

Cognitive enhancement:

  • Enhancement of learning, memorization, attention, reasoning and coordination abilities for all those who wish to improve their cognitive abilities.

Motor-cognitive rehabilitation:

  • Integrated motor-cognitive rehabilitation for neurological pathologies like Ictus, Multiple Sclerosis, Parkinson, head traumas and other neurodegenerative conditions.
  • Cognitive rehabilitation for Aphasia  speech disorders, neglect, autism and specific learning disorders.

Other treatments:

  • Treatment of severe and chronic pain such as back pain, neuropathic pain, postop pain.
  • Migraine and headaches
  • Fibromyalgia
  • Sleeping disorders and fatigue due to neurological disorders
  • Depression, anxiety and other mood disorders
  • Smoking and alcohol addictions

The package includes:

Initial Assessment

Identification of motor and/or cognitive deficits through a neuropsychological and neurophysiatric evaluation. Detection of possible concentration disorders, memory limits, depression, nutritional disorders, etc.

Rehabilitation Sessions

From 5 to 10 (or more) rehabilitation, cognitive and motor sessions (in sequence), associated to the tDCS (duration: 1 and half hours).

Final Assessment

Final evaluation + possibility of continuing the therapy from the patient’s home through telerehabilitation.
